ROYAL STAG BARREL SELECT

Royal Stag Whisky had a packaging challenge: the cartons for their whisky were not able to safely and securely hold the bottles in place, resulting in the bottle slipping out during transport, often after purchase by the customer.

Team Kumar developed an innovative mechanism to solve this problem. The top of the whisky carton had two three layered folded edges placed on the inside surface. These had strategically placed square cut slots that enabled the notches on the plastic lid to lock into place. The strength of the fit between lid and carton was sufficient to hold the bottle in place even if the carton was turned upside down.

To complement the strength of the carton, and to highlight Royal Stags premium reputation the outside of the box was embellished with a shiny metallised surface through the use of met pet board.
